The
eyes are not just windows to the soul. They're
living, breathing organs. They
need to look good with WESTCON contact lenses and they need proper care.
Proper care includes cleaning your
contact lenses correctly every day, and replacing them
every year. "It's
a federal law, and in some states also a state law that
a contact lens prescription is valid for only one year," says
Dr. Steven J. Bethka, OD, of Vision One in Grand
Junction, Colorado. "See
your eye doctor yearly to prevent eye problems. More
eye infections and eye problems come from dirty lenses
and overwear than anything else," Dr. Bethka warns.
Taking Care of Your WESTCON HORIZON Contact Lenses
Contact lenses must be cleaned,
rinsed, and disinfected daily. All three
things must be done. One
procedure does not replace another.
Before handling your contact
lenses,
wash, rinse and dry your hands. Always
use fresh, sterile, unexpired, lens care solutions.
Cleaning and rinsing is necessary to
remove mucus and film from the lens surface. Use
a recommended daily cleaner. In
addition, clean your lenses weekly with a recommended
enzymatic contact lens cleaner. An
enzymatic contact lens cleaner removes and prevents build-up
of protein deposits from tears.
Disinfection is necessary to destroy harmful germs. Empty
the lens case each time and refill with fresh, sterile
recommended storage and disinfection solution. Ask your eyecare practitioner to recommend
the eyecare product system.
